Morning Light

Morning Light

Your waking smile ignites the morning light
No other source of radiance or heat will do

Cloud free sunlight was once good enough
Sunny and overcast now merge in your absence

When you leave, oxygen is just another stale gas
Upon your return, drawing breath is miraculous

Your movements cut swaths of color through my gray
Do even my shadows conspire to see you beaming?
